The Mitsubishi Concept Global Small car will be targeted towards emerging car markets and US only. Speaking at the occasion Maurice Durand, spokesperson for Mitsubishi Motors said, “The car will be entering US auto markets in calendar year 2013.”

Though, none of the technical specifications about the car is known till now, but Durand did acknowledged the speculation suggesting that the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small car will be powered by either a 1.3 liter engine or even smaller. Though, he further added “I can’t confirm on it.”

In a statement from Mitsubishi the company said that the 5 passenger Mitsubishi Concept Global Small car can have a 1.0-to-1.2 ltr engine having a regenerative braking system, in addition to a new-generation CVT and an idling-stop mechanism. It also said that the concept will enter the production stage in March 2012 at one of company’s factories in Thailand.

Durand also told us that the Durand concept is not a replacement for the Mitsubishi Galant, and is a sub-B size car which is pretty closer to Mitsubishi Colt. The only image that was available for the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small car shows that it a small vehicle having an aerodynamic, to some extent jelly-beany look.
